I’m Trey, the founder of Free As Can Bee Therapy, and my path to becoming a therapist began through years of working in nonprofits and serving in the U.S. Peace Corps. Those experiences introduced me to cultures and perspectives that challenged many of the beliefs I grew up with. At times, I felt alone trying to make sense of it all—and that feeling lit a fire in me to make sure others wouldn’t have to navigate those kinds of shifts on their own.
As someone who is polyamorous, I also understand the personal and cultural challenges that can come with non-traditional relationships. I learned through trial, error, reading, and lots of listening. Now, I use my platform to help others navigate those same waters with more clarity and support than I had starting out.
In my work, I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to create a personalized, evidence-based approach.
