I became a sex therapist because I enjoy working with clients who desire more satisfying, fulfilling, and shame-free sex lives. I find it particularly rewarding to help folx who are sexually marginalized included but not limited to kinky folx, disabled and/or chronically ill folx, fat folx, those who are exploring their gender and/or sexual orientation, and those in non-monogamous or other non-traditional relationship structures (such as queer platonic partnerships).
I do my best work with those who wish to work through their sexual difficulties and disappointments, those who have experienced trauma or have been negatively affected by relational abuse or toxicity, and those who are working to move past shame that has been reinforced by outside sources such as family, religion, or other societal or cultural pressures are welcome.
My approach as a psychotherapist and counselor is integrative and I work through a liberation focused lens that is informed by queer and feminist theory as well as strong focus on decolonizing the fields of psychology and counseling.
My work is integrative, eclectic, systemic, and holistic. I draw heavily from IFS, client centered approaches, mindfulness based practices from Eastern Philosophy and Indigenous healing modalities, as well as somatic approaches. I am trained in EMDR and Heart Centered Hypnotherapy. I often will use creative arts, my background in theatre, and also some spiritual and magical practices with folks where there is interest. I do have some background and training in what is often called shamanic practice as well as integration of psychedelic experiences, but I do not have any certifications with either. Liberation Psychology is foundational to my work, and I also draw from queer and feminist theory. I endeavor to do my best to continue to work on decolonizing my own work and also my lens in general.
